Helicopter Spirals Wildly into Palm Trees at Popular Southern California Coast
An aircraft hovering above a crowded California coastline suddenly began spiraling out of control, eventually losing altitude and plunging into a line of palm groves as spectators observed.
Recordings posted online depict the helicopter beginning to twirl over the shoreline then descending in the direction of the edge of the beach, where it becomes wedged between palm trees and a set of stairs close to the shoreline route.
Emergency Response Information
Emergency responders reported five people were rushed to the hospital involving two individuals who were in the aircraft and were “extracted safely from the crash site” subsequent to the incident on the weekend.
Three people on the pavement were hurt. Details on their injuries were not immediately available.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
